Leyland Society Gathering -
2010
This years event was once again held in our Home
Town of Leyland, at The British Commercial Vehicle
Museum, BCVM, and was part of their Leyland
Homecoming event held over the weekend
of 10th 11th July.
Our Gathering was on the Sunday, and very
fortunately, we were blessed with a very pleasant
sunny day. Once again, there was a good mix of old
and modern, and lorries and buses. By mid morning
the parking area was almost full to capacity, in
fact the last arrivals, some Double Deckers from
Liverpool had to park on the adjacent road.
Amongst the lorries were some of our regulars,
Pyattt's with 2 Octopus's, a Beaver artic and a
Super Comet and Dave Wrigglesworth's 1953 Comet 90
in London Brick Company livery. All immaculately
presented. Amongst the newcomers was John Kerr's
1929 RAF Type, new on the rally scene this year, as
well as some other pre war lorries. There was also a
good mix of Single and Double Deckers amongst the
buses, with our friends from Birkenhead with their
blue buses helping out by operating a shuttle
service from the Museum to other parts of the town.
Other exhibits included the Cummins Engine stand,
with an enormous V 18 engine on display, and our own
stall, providing a meeting place for Members as well
as selling our publications, badges and T shirts.
The Committee of The Leyland Society would like to
thank Stephen Bullock and staff and helpers at the
BCVM for all their help both before and on the day
of the Rally. We would also like to thank all the
Exhibitors for bringing their vehicles, some from
many miles away, to this years Rally which was a
great success.
There are some pictures which were taken at the
event.
