Leyland Society Gathering - 2013

The Leyland Society holds a annual Gathering to enable members and enthusiasts of Leyland vehicles to meet and exhibit their vehicles. The event has been held for the last few years at our spiritual home in the town of Leyland.

The event is organised in conjunction with the British Commercial Vehicle Museum, which is situated in Leyland town centre, with a shuttle bus service between the rally site and the museum operated by members of the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust.

Next year the Society will be 15 years old and after canvassing vehicle owners opinions last year, there was a narrow margin in favour of holding our 2013 Gathering in Leyland, our spiritual home on Sunday 7th July in Leyland. The display will be held in the car park next to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in King Street, Leyland. An entry form is now available to download and we would request you return it as soon as possible so we have an indication of numbers and can start planning the event.

Many owners particularly enjoy driving their Leylands and so to add a new dimension to our event for 2013, the BCVM are planning a road run for the afternoon of Saturday 6th July. Starting from Leyland, the route is expected to include some challenging roads and allow drivers to take in the local scenery with some stops en route for photographs and refreshments. The road run can only be planned if the number and type of vehicles is known in advance so you would like to take part in the road run, please indicate this on your entry form. Overnight vehicle parking will be available at the BCVM and we also plan to try to negotiate special rates at local hotels for our event. We will provide further updates as soon as we have any new information – please indicate on your entry form if this would be of interest to you. One further request is to make sure you include up to date contact details on your entry form – the last minute change of location required last year demonstrated how important this information can be and if you have an e-mail address, please include that on your entry form. Please be assured we will only use e-mail addresses in relation to the Gathering and not for any other purpose.
